Horen en luisteren

Horen is gemakkelijk. Geluid komt binnen via de oren en men hoort. Soms is horen iets minder vanzelfsprekend. Er wordt wel eens gevraagd: “hoor je wat ik zeg?” Eigenlijk bedoelt de vrager: ‘heb je echt geluisterd?’ Luisteren is (dus) minder vanzelfsprekend. Het vraagt vooral een actieve houding, nieuwsgierigheid, interesse, bereidheid, openheid, …. Luisteren is niet interpreteren wat er gezegd wordt; het is alles wat men over de andere persoon weet, links laten liggen; het is vragen naar verduidelijking wanneer het uitgesprokene niet duidelijk is of wanneer men denkt dat het tegen zich gericht is. Met andere woorden: luisteren is met een open geest de ander tegemoet treden. En laat die open geest nu net een groot probleem zijn in onze samenleving.
